Cannondale Maitenance

Retro Newbie
Hi All

I've just unearthed my 1997 Cannondale Super V. It hasn't even been looked at for at least 5 years!
I pumped up the tyres and everything seems to work ok - I was very surprised!
The brakes are a bit squeeley but apart from that it rode ok.
What should I do as far as lubrication, maintenance etc?

Thanks

Liz

depends where it was stored dunnit.

if in dry conditions, then it should bne ok to ride as you have found out.

you may want to clean and lubricate cables, pivots, lube the chain, even the wheel bearings, headset etc. as the greases may have dried out over time.

oil the chain and take it out for a proper thrash
take some tools just in case
when you get back you'll have a mental list of the stuff you need to do
on that list will be "take photo's and post them on retro bike"

welcome btw

It's been in a dry garage. I was most surprised the tyres were ok - I'm sure they're the originals.
I'll splash some oil around, I suppose it should be special chain oil etc?
I'll take some pics next time I go out - hopefully over the weekend.
It's a real bike honest, not a figment of my imagination!

thanks

welcome to retrobike.........lube chain and cables, toe in the noisy brake pads, check bolts for correct torque and get out and enjoy!.........

Ok here are some pics......

Or maybe not! "The attachment is too big"
How do I make my pics smaller?

Thanks

you need some editing software ,usually supplied with your camera/phone

or do a photobucket or similar account
