Cannondale F700 build and jib vids

Love this, both the build and the riding. Have a hankering after a trials bike myself currently but just shows what can be done on a stock MTB build.
BITD everyone did a bit of trials as it was in the mags with Martin/Martyn, Hans Ray, Akrigg etc so I spent my fair share of time on picnic benches etc but never mastered pedal kicks.

Thank you!

You are right, trials was always featured in MBUK (which I miss dearly!). Those four guys were a huge inspiration to me as a young teenager. I met Hans a month back, such a nice guy!

For me now, almost any bike I can put confidence in (good brakes and a reliable hub) I’ll try to do throw over an obstacle. It can make fairly mundane bikes rides into something much more exciting.

Keep trying the pedal kick if you can! I’m sure you’ll get it!

Hi!

Brand new to retrobike. Great info, pics and videos!

A few questions (as I too have an F700):
- Mine has V-brakes. Did yours come with disk mounts, or did you have them added (if that's even possible)?
- I'd like to get a shorter stem than the stock one - would this work? Is there another stem option with a rise?
- I know the stem size is unique to Cannondale, but is the handlebar diameter unique as well?

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to the forum! Thanks for the kind words.

Mine came with disc mounts, whilst it’s possible to add disc mounts to an aluminium frame, it would be very expensive to do so as the aluminium needs to be heat treated after. Likely to be better off looking for a replacement frame with disc mounts.

There are shorter stems available second hand, but sadly no new ones anymore. They tend to fetch quite a high price. Cannondale made some shorter ones, as did kore, hope, Thompson and reverse components. Older fatty forks have a 1.56inch steerer. Newer models have a 1.5inch steerer.

The handle bar clamp with either be the older 25.4mm standard or the current 31.8mm standard.

Hope that helps? Feel free to ask if you need more information 👍🏻
