cannondale f1000 1999???

so my father in law set me a task the other day, he loves to go out biking with his grandkids but only has horrendous 99quid tesco shitebikes, so he says to me "jack" ,for tis my name," build me a bike for christmas" .
so i went searching, spent many hours trawling evilbay and gumtree, and came up with this,"cannondale" was all the title said, so bids were made and i won it for buttons.
"that,ll do him" i thought to myself, and it would have , until i rode it.

sorry bobby, your not getting this one. this is now my go-to bike



it rides so much nicer than my 2012 kona blast, and is the fastest rolling bike ive ever had.
i absolutly love it!

its now wearing a set of lx cranks with after market rings and a deore rear mech, becuase the drive drive train was terrible and tried to kill me setting off across a busy road, oh and a pair of mavic 517 rims on xt hubs just cos i had some in stock

i was thinking about a disc conversion, but im not sure were to get adaptors for it?
also, the p/o has it painted silver flake which im not to struck on, so a repaint in the depths of winter to cannondale battleship green with red decals is planned.

What do you mean by disc adaptors bud? It has discs mounts on it already, might just be misreading your post though. Normally the adaptors would come with any disc brakes you buy if you are in fact talking about the adaptors which fit between the calliper and frame? Most bike shops sell them though. Chain Reaction, Wiggle etc. I have a few in the man cave which you can have your pick of for the price of postage. They're doing nowt anyway. Drop me a PM with the sizes you're looking for and I'll see if I have them. Nice 'Dale by the way. I have a 2003 F1000SL.

If you mean for the wheels, those hubs will not take discs, so you need a new wheelset.

Nice frame, you should treat it to a nice rear mech though! Is that Altus?

Re the discmounts, i was looking at the ones on my kona (first bike ive had with discs) and the way the mount to the frame is very different to the dale. Im getting the gist of it now tho.
Re the rear mech, its an acera and its now in the bin. Piece of shite.
Theres now a nice deore on there from the bits box, much much better.

Id love to see a piccy of the 2003 f1000sl. Give me something to aim at.

Found this on Bikepedia, the 2000 F1000sl looks like your's and the pic of the 2003 F1000sl shows it with a Lefty but description says Headshok.

What did you change to haggis?? And why? Ive only got discs on my modern kona and,tbh,i think xt v,s on the dale are far better. In the dry anyway.

I REALLY wanted one of those back in the day, I think it was the 98 model that really got me fired up.. disappointed I didn't get one as I knew the ride was very good on em.. nice one for getting it all restored, and even better that you decided she was a keeper
