Cannondale Beast of the East (M800) "93

Victor1977

Dirt Disciple
Hi guys,

this is one of my bikes and it's my most recent project/purchase. Frame and paint are in good condition for its age.
Most of the parts needed cleaning, all cables were replaced.
I'm happy with it now, most of the parts are as far as I know original. Just have doubt about rims , crank and rear derailleur as these are different on catalog.
The saddle is in bad shape and I need to find a new one

Thanks Kingbling! Happy with it.
I replaced the schwalbe tires for some intense ones I had laying arround new. They are NOS and after all the years they formed a grey layer on top of the black rubber. But they are foldable and light and match well with the bike. Going to keep it like this for now.

Re:

If the steerer really is aluminium, don't put a high mileage on it. They were all recalled. The one on my '93 M1000 was steel from the factory.

I did not know, thanks. But this is for sure not a high mileage bike, my back would not survive haha. I have it because I like it a lot and I use it for some short rides now and then. I have other bikes for more regular use and the longer rides.

Re:

Btw, in case you didn't know, the name comes from the higher BB, intended to overcome muddier conditions in the wet eastern US (Cannondale is named after Cannondale railway station in Connecticut).

I was aware of the higher BB and the Eastern part but did not know where the name came from. Thanks for the history lesson.

Exactly that high BB makes it a nice bike to play with but I just can't see myself on longer rides on this bike. Must be my age of 40 haha.

Re:

That came out really nice. The BOTE is one of those bikes I can always remember from back in the day, so h a cool sounding name :D
