Canadian Klunkers

Dirt Disciple
Hi Guys, Thought I`d post a couple of bikes I put together last year. Trying to remind myself of a time when my backyard wasn`t buried under 4ft. of snow! ;)
First, the "Silver Bullet" ...this chrome klunk started life as a hardware store special, with cheap stamped V brakes, a junky one piece crank, and really low end steel wheels. It was abandoned, recovered and on it`s way to the scrap yard when I got it. Crank stripped, wheel bearings seized, and covered in rust. I brought it home and gave it some new life.
The frame and fork have canti posts, so as I was putting parts together, I gave it a "what if?" sort of build. As in, what might have evolved if the companies had stayed with cantilever frames in the early days rather than going to diamond styles.

Wheels are 80`s Sumo rims built with large flange Sansin hubs and heavy gauge spokes.
Handlebars are Superbike motorcycle bars with vintage ATV grips
Brakes are polished Dia-Compe 980`s with unknown vintage motorcycle levers.
Suntour Honor rear derailleur and a Shimano Deore on the front.
Shifters are Deore 7 speed.
I gave up trying to find a TA style crank and hung this 80`s Sakae on it. Mounted on a BMX bottom bracket.
Pedals are alloy SR`s, stem and post clamp are Suntour and saddle a Brooks B72.

Second bike is a vintage "Sunshine" Bomber that was built in Waterloo, Ontario. Canada doesn`t have much in the way of vintage balloon tire bikes or cantilever frames, as most of our vintage bikes are camel back CCM`s. This frame is one of the few exceptions. A "patina build" , I absolutely love the the paint on this bike! A weathered cherry red that truly has "been there". It spent most of it`s later life in a cattle barn.
A simple build with 80`s alloy rims, a Shimano coaster brake rear hub, and a unknown vintage handlebar, Toadstool grips, and a B72 saddle. Crank is the original Sunshine logo one piece.
Pedals are vintage alloy Gibson`s (1923)

Thanks for the kind comments guys, glad you can appreciate them as much as I do...Cheers!

I'm trying to put a bike with almost the same specs as your Silver Bullet. Hope it comes out just as lovely as yours.

Thanks. The Bullet, while not high end, attracts all kinds of attention when I ride it...people love shiny bits! ;)
