Can you use different hub spoke sizes on a bike?

Not sure about them beefing up the front wheels due to suspension , for most mtb applications 32 spokes is the standard, strong enough and light enough.
Touring bikes often have 36 spoke wheels though.

I thought Ringle started beefing up their front hubs as people started to embrace the era of front suspension.
