Can you help me identify and price this bike?

Hi all,

Novice in peace

I was in the process of giving away my old bike on Facebook Marketplace a couple of days ago and someone messaged to say they thought it might be worth something and pointed me in this direction.

I can't imagine it's worth much as it's pretty tired, but the message has peaked my curiosity so I've been trying to find out what the bike is since.

I tried to Iook up the serial number (4622353) on a couple of sites including BikeRegister but I couldn't find anything. The chap who messaged thought it was a Marin but there's no brand on the frame.

I'm pretty sure it's a few decades old as I've had it about 15+ years and was gifted it by someone else who I think had had it a while.

Have attached a few photos, anyone know what it is? Cheers!

I’m afraid you’re not going to get rich from it. The paint job with matching forks/stem/bar ends does look like a Marin - however the kit is very low spec, with nutted wheels. Entry level at best, even if it’s a Marin.

On the plus side, clean it up and service it and it’ll give plenty more years as an honest ride that you can leave anywhere and be pretty sure it’ll still be there when you get back.

If you want it to sell price it at £50 and see if there are any takers. As @markoc said, the paintjob suggests it may be a Marin, whilst the components suggest it'd likely be lower down in their range, probably early/mid 1990's

It's too low down (dropout, fork end, hangers, stops etc) to be a Marin and the serial number doesn't say Marin either. The stem etc is not Marin style.
