Can I run a 2x10 xo front mech as a 3x9?

As the title, I am trying to get hold of an xo front mech to run 3x9 but everything seems to be 2x10 these days. Can I run a front 2x10 on a 3x9 set up?

No.
The throw of the mech is too small.
The cage radius is set up for a smaller big ring too.

As^^^^^ says. Also if it is direct mount on down tube it will not clear the largest chain ring.

Thanks. Will a 3 x 10 mech work? Trying to keep the colours themed as much as I can (very sad,but that's how I roll) and to get a black SRAM front mech I'd have to drop down the food chain a bit, and don't want to do that if I can avoid it. I now I could run a shimano front mech, but I want to keep the drive train SRAM, as this will be my first ever non shimano build so trying to keep it that way. No real reason, just fancy a change. I can always go back to shimano if I disagree with xo.

3*10 should be no problem at all.
Don't think the front pull ratio changed betwee 9 and 10 speed SRAM
