Re:

It all depends what the stanchions are like when you get them apart. Also how long it takes to source some springs. They are pretty easy to do yourself ;)

They look as though the elastomers have gone. Does the damper still.work?

Servicing them (basic take apart, clean, Judy butter and fitting springs or replacement elastomers) is pretty easy. Circlip pliers and Allen keys are all that's needed.

Sometimes though, when you remove the legs you can find that the damper decides to let go of the oil, and if it's a plastic bodied damper in there, it's almost guaranteed. If this happens the damper is probably toast and if not, quite tricky to refill and will more than likely leak.

Pardon the pun, not wanting to put a dampner on getting them serviced, done many myself, but it's a risk for you and whoever does it, and replacement dampers aren't plentiful.

I've got a bunch of Judy bits for sale at the moment if you find you need anything. I'd offer to have a go for you but my Judy days are done aside from my fsx but they've got an air conversion inside so no oil to worry about.

If you get stuck I could reconsider.

Good luck.

Presuming if there's still a bit of resistance pulling them up and down dampers are ok?

I really don't want to get into the fork stripping thing. Tried it once with some bombers and didn't get on very well. Just had a look at the 96 judy service guide on here and am getting that feeling of foreboding.

Even if i buy and fit elastomers that probably won't be the end of it then?

I can strip them clean them and stick them back together again if you like, its not a big job, but you would have to ship them back and forth. And add a tally on the karma board, no worries.

But the big IF is what the internals look like. For example:
I got a pair recently with no elastomer but a length of rubbery fuel hose. WTF?
If the elastomers are shot what then? £30 for a spring kit? find some spares?
What about the damper. I have been lucky and managed to refill and repair a few but if its knackered....?
Bushes OK? I cant do much for knackered bushes, stantions etc but perhaps can make what you have move a bit better.

Up to you dude, happy to help out
