Can anybody help with the year of my Scott ?

I have had my Scott comp racing for at least 12 years and had it from new (Can't remember when though). It has every original part except for the saddle as it wasn't very comfy (I still have the original). As it has now become my second and commuter bike, i would like to keep it fairly original as it was my first expensive mountain bike. The pic is a recent pic of it. Has anybody got an idea of what year it is or where to find out?

As i can't post a photo yet i will have to add it in a bit.

Skolioza is a user on here who is very knowledgeable about Scott's.

I know nothing, but I'd say later 90's by the frame design and the provision for discs.

to most of us on this site thats about 5 minutes old - looks '99 onwards going by that LX chainset, is it the grey four bolt model?

I kind of agree with LGF, the Disc tabs would be key in its identity, I have had a quick look on Bikepedia and the 98 is the latest listed http://bikepedia.com/Search.aspx?Q=scott+comp+racing

A picture of drive side would help and there may also be a clue in the frame number

I believe it is a '98, the '99 was white and blue, I believe.

Rode very well if I remember right. I sold scads of those back in the day!
