So got myself a very well used Sbike Daytona with full Campa. At first sight I thought it wasn’t so bad but there was a lot of wear on bearing, especially bottom bracket had suffered a lot to never had any maintenance. Cosmetic it wasn’t too bad (I hoped) but after a good clean I had to adjust my findings. So a lot of work came my way and what better to do during holidays then take apart and restore this group to best possible state.
BB taken apart one side of the axle is worn in badly. For now I used another axle. See if I find a way to solve this. Cups are ok with new balls and axle runs smooth. Next step pedals. Took them apart completely and lucky enough cones where good enough. New bearings, good polish and repainted cages, now pedals look like new. Brakes, derailleurs, levers, all taken apart and cleaned/polished. Painted those derailleur parts that had marks. Cleaned the original 8 speed cassette (some 20 years of gunk kept all together!) and front chain wheels. Still in very good condition, maybe because of non maintenance from previous owner only applying lubricant. Next stop are wheels. Removed all spokes and now cleaning hub, polish a lot and rebuild is next. So work in progress before starting to rebuild the Sbike.
Added some pictures, what do you think so far?
