Does anyone know anything about Campagnolo rims? I'm looking for something different to Mavics for the next build and need to know what models are what. I know/think that Campag Thorr rims are the more heavy duty ones and i'm wondering where Ateks and Everests fit into their lineup, are they more XC? Thanks in advance guys.

Hi,

The Ateks are an xc rim i believe. And the good news is if remember correctly i have a NOS pair somewhere! I do have a NOS set of hubs in polished silver!

Give me a pm if you fancy! I will have a nose around the garage for you.

Cheers,Al

Stheno was another XC one. I have a very battered and old one on one of my bikes. Nice looking. Quite narrow with a V profile.

Thorr was the strongest at the time (1991/1992) then Atek and Mirox AFAIK

I've recently bought several sets of NOS Thorr for some of my builds and I also have some Mirox. The are VERY narrow but look dead cool

somewhere online is a strength test and the Thorr were THE toughest at the time....i can't remember which site though

I've got a pair of Campag rims on some wheels but can't remember without looking which they are. I do remember that some tyres were very tight to fit on them and they are narrow. I'll check tomorrow which model they are.

I've been warned they are right pig to fit tyres to as well....better hope I don't get too many flats.... :?

i found Atek and Stehno to be a pain to build. difficult to true and they dont last. but light indeed.

I had some Mirrox's on an old Dyna-tech that were nice and light in quite a polished finish... Wished I'd kept hold of 'em... Come to think of it, wished I'd kept the whole bike

Back in the day I ran an Atek up front and a Mavic 231 in the rear.

bent more fronts than rears, but the Atek's were superlight.

Brake set up could also be a pain due to the concave braking surface; which sounded like a good idea but wasn't.
