Campagnolo cassettes & chains - did they do them????

Afternoon all you fonts of knowledge, wisdom & expertise.......

Did Campagnolo make, as part of their groupsets, cassettes and chains??

Slowly, but surely, I have been building up a mid 80's Campy groupset, not all matching, but more of that another time, consisting mostly of Super Record etc bits, but don't seem to have ever seen on here or on flea bay either a cassette or a chain offered up for sale!

Is this because they didn't do them then? Or is it that as parts of the bike that get a lot of use, that they get worn out??

If it's mid-80's it would likely have been screw-on freewheels not cassettes, and I've never heard of a Campag freewheel (waits for next post with catalogue of freewheels ) .

Generally all this extra stuff came about as indexing appeared where the brands needed to control everything to get it to work.

You're right hamster there will be many replies detailing Campag freewheels. All I know is they did make them late on in the time of freewheels, they were expensive and very light. I don't remember Campag making chains in the old days though.

Aah, sorry. Thanks (again) Hamster. In the recent past I have mostly been riding mountain bikes (mid 90's onwards) and have got used to calling them all cassettes!!!

Yes, I suppose I actually meant freewheel! In short, then - I am on a wild goose chase looking for a Campy cassette & chain??

I always thought that the best freewheels were ones like Regina (still available NOS) and Sedis chains (now owned by SRAM).

With consumable stuff like cogs and chains, personally I wouldn't bother...unless you are the sort of person who keeps CDs in alphabetical order and irons his underpants. :?

Whatever you do, don't try this the other way about like I once did. The pants worked out OK (they were all filed under "M" for Marks & Spencer so that was easy) but I ended up melting a perfectly good copy of OK Computer....

campag made four freewheels,three alloy and one titanium,all horribly expensive!
they also did an eight speed chain in the early nineties although i've never had one in my hands or seen one that was for sale,so i suspect very rare also

I keep my CD's in alphabetical order. When you nearly 1000 you have to just to find anything. I don't iron though. Too boring.
