I swapped my 8spd Ventos of same era from 8sp to 9sp by simply buying a 9sp hub, and swapping the freehub bodies, then re-selling the now 8spd hub on eBay. I got more for the converted 8 than I paid for the 9... I still race TTs and Tris on the wheels, and they're still smooth as silk, and never minded the fact I was 20Kg over the max weight limit for them (83Kg) for most of their 18year life...
