Campagnolo 50th anniversary group

You can pay anywhere up to 5 grand for NOS in the box. It's a bit bonkers!
For that sort of money, I would prefer to have the full tool kit and it would be a lot cheaper as well I hope, in good condition would be fine..

There are still quite a few bike shops in France and especially Spain (the Italians are all cleared out!) who have full tool kits under the counter, not in use anymore. If you're ever on holiday to either it's worth going into the lbs and asking if they have one. My pal picked one up complete from a shop that was going out of business in Lyon for 1000 euro.

I wouldn't buy the 50th groupset anyway as I don't really like the unfluted cranks, and also the big ring has one cutout missing, not that I'm fast enough to use a 52 ring. And the gold bits look a bit tacky.

The Campagnolo 80th anniversary groupset was probably the last one I would buy.

I quite like the non fluted cranks but agreed the gold is fairly tacky!

I remember an old customer of the shop was desperate for the 50thA groupset, and saved and saved to buy it new for £2000 - this was around 1992 iirc, so they hadn't flown out from the wholesaler.

I think they still had them on the shelves new, but imagine how out-of-date those components were by 1992!
