Campag model?

Just picked up a Cadex 980c in what looks like very nice condition considering it has be standing outside for a while...long enough for the tyres to be completely flat! It has a full Campag groupset and wheels but while Shimano is easy, I cannot recognise Campag models. Can anyone help?

I think the RD and levers are Record, but in typically confusing Campagnolo fashion, the brakes are Chorus.

Just to complete the groupset photos. Here is the crankset and front mech and the other side of the brifter. Also the whole bike to give some context. I am trying to research some more info on this bike . I cannot find any that were specced for Campag, all see to be Shimano 105 or even Dura Ace.
I have the serial number as GJ 9003 and will see what the internet throws up.

That's a rather nice bike. Presuming Giant didn't offer just the frameset as a retail option (I don't think Giant did that sort of thing, being a large-scale operation?), I would imagine that whoever bought it wanted to upgrade it from the 105 spec (1991 catalogue example with full 105 shown attached) – or was just a really big Campagnolo fan!

It would make sense for this to have happened when Campagnolo came out with those first Ergopower shifters in 1992, a few years after the bike itself came out.

It is a nice bike (I have one) and yes, there was a frame only option, at least here in Holland. In 1990 the full bike was equipped with 1055 and its RRP was DFL 2,295. The frame's RRP was DFL 1,295.

For comparison, the next model in the lineup was the RX-100-equipped Peloton Superlite, at DFL 1,395.

So, seeing as the headset and stem are also not catalogue spec, perhaps this was originally built up from a frameset, after-all.

And I'm 100% sure the shifters are Record, and the brakes are Chorus - the only Record brakes at this time were the Delta ones.
