caloi a bike ive never heard of

seen a guy today on a sweet looking retro ride, ...it was a caloi but have never heard of them..

.also got me thinking there is someone very very close to me from on here that i dont know of....anyway where do these bikes stand in the quality stakes of all things retro.....got to say they are a new one on me :?

I remember them from the mid-90's.
I actually saw an advert for one in an old mtb magazine i was looking at a few weeks ago, ill snap a photo of I can find the advert again!
From memory they were mainly middle of the road welded aluminium frames. Company was from Brazil I think?

i only caught a quick glimpse of it as i was sitting at traffic lights in the car as it passed in front of me

i was just curious on the name and was not sure if some of his decals were missing..

Magazine was at the top of the pile so I took a few photos, from the September 1992 copy of MBUK. I think Caloi still make modern bikes though.

IIRC, Caloi bikes were ridden by Motorola for a short period, in the classic Merckx/Motorola colours. So there may be a link with Eddy Merckx in some capacity

Just saw this on the danish version of Facebook Marketplace, seller writes that it is a Caloi with Deore LX! Couldn't find any pictures of it on Google and thought that the design looks remarkably like the Sbike I recently bought!!?? Thought I would share it in here for others to see when doing a search

The rear dropouts look similar to a British Eagle EXS .... the rest is different though. Only the general X-frame shape is similar to an SBike.
