Calling All Orange C16R Owners

Re:

Here is the ‘95 C16r I’ve just finished building for my daughter. I still get excited when I finish a build! She took it on a test ride and while it rode well she has said she’d like the handle bars a bit higher so I’ve got an Azonic riser bar I’ll fit (although I need some purple Jagwire outer cable if anyone has a bit spare?). I also need to play with the elastomers in the forks as I set them a bit too soft for her weight and she said the saddle is uncomfortable so I’ll have to find a lady friendly one that doesn’t look like a sofa. Other than that, really pleased how it came out.

Cool looking bike mate and I love the colours.

Is the colour original? Be nice to see a build thread and more pics.

Johndeverill on here makes elastomers. He was great at sorting mine for my pace rc35’s. If you give him a shout he’ll sort you some.

Andy

Hi Andy.

Thanks, I’m pleased the way it has turned out.

No, the colour’s not original, it was originally silver with fluo orange decals. It was a bit tatty so I’ve had it powder coated in high metallic mid grey and added some decals from DNFIVE.

I’ll post some more pics and spec.

I’ve got a set of John’s elastomers in the RC35’s on my Aluminum O and they are great. The ones I used in these forks were some original ones I had that had gone a bit soft so thought they would be ideal as my daughter isn’t very heavy but I need to play around with different rates.

Cheers.

Stephen.

I've had a pleasant morning sticking on Gil's rather splendid transfers to my 95 C16r frame

20210404_111432.jpg

In the end I went for Orange Charcoal Grey... not exactly retro but a colour I quite like it and catches the light nicely. I wasn't sure if the silver decals would be lost but they look quite smart against the grey.

Probably criminal but as I only run Vs the rear bridge has been snipped off.

And a final shot of Gil's superb decals

I'll be adding bits to it in a bit.

Cheers

Hi everyone,

I've got an Orange C16R which I am currently renovating. My first job this time round was to free the seized seat post which once it'd been removed I identified as a 27.2mm with a shim to 30.0. But I am not certain that size was correct.

That said, there was some mild corrosion inside of the seat tube which may have pushed against the shim, which in turn pinched the seatpost in there. No doubt caused by Aluminium and the Cro-Mo steel being in contact without anything like copper grease. So possibly it was the correct size. Is there anyway of knowing which is should be?

If it makes any difference the fork uses a 1" ahead-style threadless headset (in my case a Scuzzy Logic Pro is installed), has a Shimano e-type front derailuer mount and the serial number starts with a 6 and ends with a 9.

Thanks.

Recent steal off ebay, ripping off the 7 speed Alivo for 9 speed XT and modernised a bit (it's not scarilage, got another in the post I'm putting back to FO!). Frame's a bit rusty but only cosmetic, gonna have her blasted and powder coated.

Who is this Gil who seems to be able to provide decals please?
