Having just bought and then discovered that the BETD main pivot upgrade doesnt fit my frame :( , i am left scratching my head as to how im supposed to setup my main pivot bearing.
seeing as the frame didnt come with stock nylon bushes and bolt, and having since removed the old bearings and discarded the washers that came with it (which i dont think were strictly stock either as they didnt match!), i need pictures of your main pivot bearing setups.
im trying to figure out what sits between the bearings and the frame.
Pics of my current-incomplete- setup:

with the bolt:

there is about a 1mm gap eitherside between the bearing housing and the frame:

and about a 2mm gap between the bearing face and the bearing housing:

my initial thoughts are to find 2 sets of washers measuring:

M10 x 22mm OD x 2mm depth

M10 x 24mm OD x 1mm depth

but if anyone else has a better idea.....i'm all ears...

Are the betd kit needle bearings too wide to fit inside the space currently taken by the cartridge bearings?

You may be able to get sum slightly thinner needle bearings to suit and still use the kit?

I think I kept my old nylon washer setup, but its for the different/thicker chain stays (and its worn and floppy)

no, its kind of the opposite, the needle bearings are too small in diameter. they are wider than bearings housing. everything about the kit just doesnt work, even the washers wouldnt fit anywhere.
its 100% not compatible in any way shape or form.
might give BETD a bell tomorow. although i've tried calling them several times before wihtout any luck....

i had such high hopes for my DIY bearing upgrade! :(

Re:

Mine had a thick washer on the the sprocket side of the crank only, so that the swing arm is in line, can get you a picture but will have to be on Monday

Re:

Interesting, so it only has one washer? Wouldn't that mean that the non drive side has metal against metal? Or was it a thin washer on the non drive side? Pics would be great thanks :)

Re:

I'm trying to think now, trying to remember if there is the plastic bushes in the main pivot on the bike, and on the swing arm, but will have to have a proper look Monday sorry buddy

I still have the chainstays and mainframe (knacked BB threads) from mine and the bolt kit- I'll see what I can dig out and put back together.

What year and model do you have? Would be good to see what you've got :)

Re:

The old one was a 2002 Rockhopper FSR - that went when the BB could no longer be satifactorily JB Welded in place after the threads stripped. And on stripping for the new FSR, there was a crack in the original disc mount seat stay. All I have left are the chain stays, the main frame somewhere, some random bolts and a pic or two.

Couldn't find any of the bits you need, except the main pivot and bolt. Sorry.

Afraid it's not a retro one but here's my modern FSR. I did have the old blue box section one with silver and black swing arms and Red Manitou's once, great bike!
