C-Record crankset - variables in anodisation.

I picked up some C-Record cranks t'other day, but the pictures were not too descriptive - now, in the past I've bought a pair of C-Record cranks in silver that were so badly beaten up I had to polish them to bare metal. When I opened this package, I was surprised how dark the anodisation is - it's almost blue. It's difficult to show it correctly on the pictures, but it's definitely darker than the silver ones I had previously.

I'm fairly certain that these aren't dark enough to be the Century finish, but before I cover them in oven cleaner and take it right back for a wee polish, I'm not destroying something that should be kept, am I??

I think they just have a more satin finish. I have a pair like that. Some anodised parts can have a more mirror-like finish.

there were quite a few different finishes on the C record chainset between 85/86 and the last ones of that shape in the mid 90's. Even the shape has altered slightly over the period. The first generation type had a kind of eggshell finish and a much flatter face, wereas the type you have is far more common.
