I think I'd like to get into GT Zaskar's, but given all the to-do over dodgy ones, can anyone do a list of the things to check to make sure what you're buying is kosher?

I know this is the subject of a load of threads, just wanted the advice in one place!

grand cheif wizard ecky thump has added you to his christmas "visiting "list...run lgf ....run

As above but watch out if you are after an early U-brake Zaskar as the same era alloy Pantera had the flat cap too, some of those have been polished up and passed off as Zaskars.

Later years only the Zaskar had the flat cap.

Well it is a Zaskar by the look of it.. only thing that put me off (a little - it's been sitting on my watchlist for a few days :? ) was the mention of a few gouges.. don't mind some scratches or some little dents.. but gouges??

Is this OK?

It has the American 6061 sticker at the base of the seattube but i'd still be suspicious at the lack of stickers (as it's an early one it may well be a Pantera), i'd ask for the frame number and post it on here to be sure.

The gouges mentioned may just be the chainsuck he has pictured which dont look too bad TBH, my Zaskar has far worse in that area

my stickers fell off in the hot sun of '94. They melted easily.
