Brooks leather bar tape: anyone tried it?

I was wondering if anyone had tried Brooks leather bar tape?

It looks nice, but I wonder about how it deals with water / rain and whether it needs something shock absorbent underneath like Marsas. I'll be using it on my audax machine so it's for a bit more than whooshing a fixie out from Hackney for a latte...

I wanted to know this as well. Have heard its lasts well but not sure about in the wet.

It is hand made and he does more of a waterproof version now.
He was at NAHBS last year and will be again this year.

Think he'll post out of country as well.

Humm, yeah the conversion on the dollar vs Brooks likely being less expensive in the UK could do that. Brooks tape is $$$ in the US, so the Handlbra is a vastly better product and 'value' In any case, leather bar wrap is $$

I have brooks tape on my raleigh which is soon going to be transferred to my coventry eagle.

A good thing about it is that it can be re-wrapped loads of times.

Do It Like They Used To!

It can be quite slippery when wet and you don't want that bike falling over...!
IMHO shellac on cotton bar wrap give you much better grip, is better looking with a deep honey lustre, last longer if you reapplied regularly and can be very cheep if you know where to shop! It's also good fun to do:
