Broken Retro thread....what have you broken?

Intense M3 down a black run - frame removed itself from its headtube and i looked down saw daylight where there should have been metal.....then looked up and saw tree where there should have been path

broken wrist too!!

trashed Mavic 231 rim on the rear, ripped the Ritchey Megabite Z-MAX WCS on it, dented my Specialized Sub6 helmet and f'k up my back for a good month.

other than that everything else on my Cirrus survived the crash down the hill to this day.

Stuff I broke:
Er nothing apart from helmets. I must be a complete wuss.
Stuff broken by motorist running me over? Front wheel (Araya RM17 on LX Hub) and a Specialized Future Shock Fork.
Stuff I saw broken while working in a shop?
Everything.
Any amount of forks bent backwards while "just Riding Along" (we had a JRA box for stuff like this)
A Raleigh activator (and it's rider) In a right state 'cos he fitted a qr front wheel on the flexiest fork known to mankind.
Any amount of broken Peugeots - mostly parting company at the seat stay/ Seat Tube junction.
A Raleigh Summit - you know the first Raleigh that came with proper Rock Shox - bent to buggery and back.
The guy came in, bandaged up carrying this wreck and I thought "Oh god, he's going to sue us" and he just hobbled up and dropped it on the floor and said "I need a new bike."

I expressed my dismay and that I hoped he was ok, quaking inwardly, and he said:
"Yeah, I was hammering down a hill watching the fork go up and down and I didn't see the tree."

Priceless.

many many wheels back in the '90s riding downhill on rigid bikes and my friend's 1990ish Carrera Krakatoa by riding it down a huge flight of concrete steps very fast
also one Manitou Stance Static jump fork, blew them on a (not that) heavy landing, oil from the fluid-flow damping everywhere  - Manipoo

"Yeah, I was hammering down a hill watching the fork go up and down and I didn't see the tree."

How many of us did that the first time we got bouncy forks??

I remember crashing into a gate on the first after my mate bought some Mag 20s. I was caught in a trance-like state by watching those forks bouncing up and down next to me.

Fortunately didn't break anything though.

ive broken numerous lp26's and then found un51/2/3. hallelujah!
cleaning my bike just recently and found 10 cracks in my raceface turbines, gutted!
ripped a xt737 rear mech clean off the cove back in the summer. then ripped the xt shadow replacement clean off last week.
numerous chains, both cheap and posh, and many spokes.

Not many frame killers on here then? quote]

in order:

1x Cannondale M700 frame (Cannondal europe claimed never to have received it when I sent it back to them and shop had no returns number... )
1x Proflex 855
1x no name cromo steel frame (built as a jump bike, before they really existed much...about a year or so - had it gussetted and re-welded)
2x original GT sts (16" - both about 2 weeks old)
1x Club Roost VCV or something (fs Frame anyway - 3 weeks old)
1x Mango speccy M2 (built as a jump bike - about 9 months, but it take some real hammer in that time...)
1X specialized FSR Elite (the origional red max-backbone one)
1x Specialized Palmer replica DH frame
1x Specialized M4 Roadbike frame (about 2 months back, but it was 7+ yrs old and got regular hammer ona 30 mile commute on sheffield roads, and ridden right through the winter.)

that's 10 so far...

Stuff I broke:
2 rear mechs - Exage, 400LX
1 front mech - 400LX
I bent 2 chainsets, 1 of which was steel
GB randonneur bars - these turned from silver to a sort of crazed white on a long ride once, very weird.
1 quill stem on a cheapo Raleigh road bike (going downhill at 35mph)
Puegeot alpine rigid forks (not rigid enough)
On-one gimp saddle
and most recently and sadly, my 1987 Puegeot Alpine. I know it's not a "quality" frame, but it was my first proper bike and we shared a lot of adventures together. It had suffered many spills, and when I started riding it one day I noticed the top tube had bent.
