It's not full XT, that chain set is Deore LX, the brake levers are not Shimano's either.

Picky Friday is it? Tbh in my opinion the Ss5 levers beat xt in every respect

Opinion from use I would guess.
My opinion is they didn't beat the newer SLR plus levers ServoWave XT (1990+) with the windows and later, but maybe the older XT.
they're lighter and if you like the feel, just better otherwise, they're not. Some may prefer the longer ss7 version.
But that's just opinion from my use.

Didn’t everyone want SS5’s because they were a chunk lighter than XT? I like both.

We all have our preferences I guess, but when it comes to 90's bikes I prefer Shimano and Avid levers, in that order. But I haven't used any Diacompe levers, maybe I should try some one day.

Did anyone use them with anything else other than 986/987 brakes?
I did use them with DX canti's, but felt wrong using them shimano, so over to 987s.
