Interesting that you have a 27.0 seatpost. Mine came with a 26.6 that was too small and I measured the internal diameter at 26.8. That’s why i asked.

Late 80’s / early 90’s perhaps. I’m hoping someone will be able to date yours based on the frame number and I can jump on that information bandwagon too.

Well it’s been a looong time since I started this post , but Ive had the bike finished for a while now so I’d better show some pics of the results.
But first here’s a little run down on the refurb,
The colour was decided at the very last minute at the powder coaters, it’s called Pebble and to me it looks like beige but I’m colour blind so what do I know . I think it’s actually a very light grey .
There were a couple of dents that I was hoping to braze fill but that never worked out so instead it was mig/blob welded then filed & smoothed back , it’s not invisible to I layed the decals over it on the top tube.
The BB is absolutely fine , the drive side threads are somewhat worn so I’m using a Mavic 610 threadless bb (this was already with the bike)
Whilst setting up the brake calipers , one of the mounting bosses decided to start turning when I tightened it up . These are press fitted in so I managed to tap a thread into the the back of it and fitted a hex thread which luckily worked really well & better than the others .

What else ? Oh yeah , when I inflated the front tyre on the original wheel after I’d stripped and thoroughly cleaned & regressed it etc , I’d just put the cap back on and turned my back to walk away when there was an almighty bang !!!!!! , Half the rim wall had exploded off the wheel ! Because it was so thin and worn :facepalm: id jumped out of my frickin skin and nearly crapped it ! then needless to say It was fits and giggles after at had what just happened .. Holy shiiiit
I masked and sprayed the blue inlays with a rattle can and attempted the lug lining with a brown gloss Humbrol model paint and a lining pen , as you can the results are outstanding....ly shocking but it’s all good fun .
Apart from that things went pretty straight forward , I’ve added the vintage big brooks sprung saddle , new rim on front (well it’s used but good nick)
Richie brake blocks , Dia-Compe hoods (they just about fit) , panaracer pesala’s , rear rack and the TA chain set as the old teeth were shot away and I couldn’t find new rings to fit .

It’s a nice little ride although a tad too small for me , I’ve tilted the bars back up from these pics , they must of moved whilst riding & and raised the saddle more , I’m 6ft with long shank legs

Wow, that is some rim blowout
Besides that temporary setback, it looks great. A job very well done.
Everything suites it nicely right down to the sprung saddle which I don't always think looks right with drop bars but this looks like it was meant to be.

And thanks for your offer peetee , I may take you up on that rim , It would be handy to get them matching again so I’ll take a couple of close up of the rear for you .
