Bring the Funk! -- UPDATES p. 4

My seatpost is a 26.8 and I thought a 92. I have the later unicrown/ti steerer fork. This does seem inconsistent with the bikes year as all the other similar 92's have the welded box type fork.
The one I sold to Aaron I thought was newer than 92. There is quite a few differences between them as well. Quality of welds, relieved headtube, better machining on the bridge and stops.....One had stamp no's and the other didnt.
I have been looking for the King 1 1/4 grip nut conversion thing for a while... not offered on the King website. Another option is you can use the Growler locking nut. Still has clean look.

Hmmm, like I said, i'm happy to be proven wrong as my research was a little 'limited' (I'm sure I still have an MBA from 'late '92 somewhere that shows Daryl crouching next to one that from memory looks a lot like mine). This thread is proof that i'm not the only one a bit at sea over my bike's vintage! :)

Hey guys -- since it seems like we're all a bit lost when it comes to the years of our bikes (or maybe just me :p ), I sent a note directly to the source to get some answers. Here's what Dave from Funk Cycles had to say when I asked how to determine the year of manufacture for a Pro Comp frame:

Hi Mike,

It is most likely a 90,91,92,or 93. You should see one of those numbers somewhere on the serial number.

Thanks
Dave

I sent him a reply asking if he could shed some light on all the variations we've identified (seatpost size, etc.). I'll post his response if I get one.

Update: I found some NOS silver Ringle CamTwist wheel skewers, and I called CK today since they no longer offer the 1-1/4" conversion kits on their website. They were able to find a black 1-1/4" 2Nut conversion kit for me, so the headset is now sorted. :D I'm still on the lookout for a nice 26.8 seatpost, Suntour XC Pro front derailleur, and some nice 36 hole hubs.

mine is 1990, think has a 26.8 seat pin, i'll check, can't find a ser no & is still covered in mud from sunday

hope you'll ride it hard, they really are a lovely bike to ride, even mine

Some details for you, Mike.

I am also loving the black rims. Do you have a no stamp?
What stem, what stem, what stem?
