Brand new Emmelle Dolomite with u brake

The frame looks lovely, I don't know what these late 80's Emmelles were like, but surely they weren't as bad as they became in the 90's. I bet that would ride quite nice for the price compared to an equivalent brand new bike, and you know it'll last much longer. I'm tempted, if it had postage I'd buy it and leave it as is.

IIRC, there were crap and better Emmelles - even in the 80s. I had an Emmelle Silver Challenge - hi ten steel frame, steel rims, side pull brakes, centre ridge tyres. The thing was a death trap, but it got me into mountain biking in the late 80s. The Dolomite were, IIRC, at the better end of the spectrum of a brand highly tarnished by the rest of the crap they sold cf British eagle.

This is a great bike and sensible money. My first bike was the Cortina which sat below the Dolomite. Exactly the same frame & fork but Exage Trail groupset. The tubing if my memory serves me was Ishawata for main tubes. It cost me £225 in late 88

Shame it's not the green / grey model, my best pal had this as his first MTB back in 1988. I would have snapped this up as an Xmas present for him, if it were the right colour.

Was nothing wrong with the Dolomite bitd. Couple of mates had the 89 version and it had nice paint and full Mountain LX groupo. Very similar bike to my Tufftrax.

This one would make a great commuter or even off road tourer or day trekker, it has all the braze-ons. Really surprised it hasn't been snapped up, especially after the £200 price offer. Obviously the Emmelle name comes with a rightly deserved stigma, but as others have mentioned not all Emmelles were created equal, this is probably at about the quality of a mid range DB from that era and is in brand new condition.

For me the Emmelle name actually increases its appeal, especially so if the tubing is of an acceptable non BSO standard.
