Hi. Thanks again for all the replies. I love this forum, it's brilliant. It certainly seems some form of engineering is needed either end of the cable, and none of it by either Trek or Shimano. Will keep you posted.

Is the canti spring retainer disc thingy ( That bit up in the pic) moveable? On my Marin swingarm you just loosen the brake boss, move the disc and re tighten.
