Boulder Defiant

Re:

great purchase, I just picked one up from ebay...NOS.....fresh bike, looks alot like the black one posted with the black rock shox rs-1 on it.
Since its new, I'm hanging it for now...I have a mint white one that I'm building to ride.
I want to look into the risse shock upgrade, do they do the valve tuning also?, or if I have to do myself, is there a certain hole size thats a good (I know it depends) average place to start?....or a method to doing this tune?
Thanks for any info and all the info in this thread already....I so want to ride one of these bikes.

With regards to the Risse shock, the stock jet hole is .062".
0.070" should give a supple shock for a 13.5 stone rider (~1.75mm).
You can go to a larger size jet hole, up to .125". Just take a small drill and open up the jet hole. .010" at a time.

Re:

Thanks for the tips, I'll be doing this to my white one, but I will ride it as it is first so I have something to comapre to.

Also, I did notice that my rear link has some play in it, not much but it's not firm (the white one looks like it was barely ridden).
I got the new black one and it feels exactly the same, is there an adjustment for this or is this normal?
I did read a previous post concerning this area but was wondering if this is the same thing.
Thanks again. :D

It's probably the incorrect link to the shock (hammering sound up and down when you drop the bike).
Side to side will be the oilite bushes most probably.

Can you post pictures of your Boulders? Is the serial number of the NOS under 00200? Post if you can.

Thanks!

I sure can....I'll get them on this weekend with serial number info.
I believe my bikes to be newer? not too sure but I think the headbadge is on earlier models, both of mine have decals for head badges.

ok, i gotta get soem better pics, but the interesting thing is my serial numbers.....

00107
00108

SWEEET...I got frames built one after another....

the black one seems to have a sparkly purple highlight to it in the sun (the paint job looks brand new).
I think they used something in the clearcoat over a black base...kinda cool.

I'll get some pics too, but the ones I took were terrible.
