thanks for checking but i think its too short. im going by the dims of the old bb which was 112.5mm. any shorter and i think the arms would be a bit close to the frame

thanks, sean

Hi Sean,

If you are happy with a Shimano option but want something a bit wider I've got a UN54 68x115 which I would stick in the post for a tenner. But it does have a plastic cup on the non-drive side which has a slight crack in it. I don't think this would be a problem and I only took it out because it was a bit wide on the chainline for my singlespeed.
However if you are after a shimano one (being the worlds worst salesman ;) ) I would check and see what is on chainreaction, because they normally do shimano bb's really cheap.

they all have plastic cups on chain reactions. i guess theyre cheaper for a reason. anyway, thanks for the offer but im gonna hold out for metal cups

Ok Sean no worries, it was worth a try - i could try and stretch another 2.5 mil out of it? lol

Hi.
I have a barely used un54 (68 by 113) which is missing the plastic cup, but I have the metal non-drive side cup from a un7* knocking about, which should match up.
If you are interested, I could do it second class post for £12.
I also have an FSA cartridge bearing one, also 68 by 113, which has all metal cups. Its not fancy, but it is solid and smooth running and you can have that for £10.

...or will swap the pair for an octalink bottom bracket (es30 or es51).

Right fsa is all fine, smooth and looks pretty perfect. It uses 6002 type gearings. The shimano one is in good nick fine, but unfortunately the cup that i thought fitted it doesn't, its about 0.5mm too small. So unless you have another cup, the shimano one is out of the running.
