bottom bracket removal (new pic)

Retro Newbie
I am restoring my old 1995 Mongoose Threshold that I sold to a friend 3 years ago and it has since seen some abuse and London traffic grime.

It is going well so far but I am yet to figure out how to remove the bottom bracket which has some play in it. I a pic on my phone to my local LBS and they had never seen it before.

Does anyone know what tool I could remove this with?

Thanks

Steve

a normal shimano bb tool should do. it looks like a vp bottom bracket and they have elomgated splines for some reason.... halfords sell one of their own for about 6 quids...

Have you tried a Shimano tool? It may be that every other spline will engage correctly. A shimano BB tool has 20 splines, and I count ten in your picture.

The shimano tool worked a treat, all I have to do now is buy a new crank puller as mine snapped trying to get the other crank arm off!
