This is stupid, one's even got a light bracket on it...

I often fit lights to my bike so I can ride in the dark. I seem to recall I did that 20 years ago too.

I actually did want a KHS BITD; new not rusty mind, does that make me sad? lol

I think there are some proper retro bikes on here (definitely not my mishmash of spare parts). The Fuji with those roller cams is great.

I don't know if you are referring to mine or not but it gets ridden to work and back twice daily (I come home for lunch) and it tends to be dark in the evenings, therefore it has two light brackets attached but you probably can't see the one on the bars which, incidentally, is nearly as old as the bike (it belongs to an old Cat-eye HL-500 Halogen).

If I had built it with the intention of entering competions then I would probably have taken the brackets off and ridden somewhere more picturesque than the back garden! As it is I thought I'd enter it this month as to me (and at least four others judging by the poll results :) ) it fits the definition of "Mid-Range" perfectly.

And surely Retro covers bikes of all specifications, just because these aren't XTR-equipped show bikes with all the bling doesn't make them any less retro IMO.

Midrange: real bikes for the real world.

I agree entirely. Mine have lights too...it's because I ride them, not look at them.

My Scott has mismatched bars/bar ends & non original wheels & brakes, no wonder it's got no votes ;)

It's all I could afford at the time, & it's still on it's original drivetrain (although very worn!)

It's no show bike for sure, but IMHO it is a good example of a working class mid range bike from the mid/late 90's

Question: "If I could swap my Cindercone for any of the others, which would it be?"
Answer: "I wouldn't".

Voting wise the four that I find tempting are:
Ed's Fire Mountain (always loved that paint).
Khane's Orange Prestige
DrystonePaul's Marin
Jango's Vertex

Hi, the "Dr S' 1983 Specialized Stumpjumper Sport" and "the Senri's 1988 Giant Escaper" are, for me, wonderfull. Maybe too wonderfull for this month

And the "nils point" booby prize is split 3 ways!

And I now shan't feel at all bad about plundering the Jamis for parts!

If you do, I'll take the Spectre bits and the bottle please ;)
My ever growing Jamis collection is always hungry for parts :D
