BotM March 2018 nominations - Reynolds steel special

Re:

I’m pretty amazed at the lack of bikes entered. I expected to see more British bikes, I don’t understand how there is not a Roberts, Lloyd or Yates in here!

I have several 853 bikes including a DeKerf and IFs but only the Kona Hot is pre ‘97. I also have a Roberts Stratos that I believe is 531 Magnum but it’s not in a position to enter yet and doesn’t have a tubing decal anyway.

I enter Elev12K's 1990 Gazelle Champion Mondial ATB. I covered it extensively a couple years ago: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=146923&hilit=gazelle

The frame was built by Gazelle's small frame shop in Dieren The Netherlands using Reynolds 531 All Terrain tubing. Introduced in 1984. The model changed only a little during its 8 year lifetime. No more than a couple dozen built.

That Gazelle is awesome, Melvin  !

Has there ever been a mountainbike of Dutch origin that won BoTM?
This could very well be one..

It’s a lovely bike, and would be one of several worthy winners, but wasn’t it technically entered too late?

I think you’re right.

If you can’t be a year late, you can’t be a day late either.

April fool!

Nice,

the colour ways and the lugs reminds me a lot of Bollocks Schwinn build

Thanks. Yes, it shows resemblance, but there is no connection. This paintscheme was called 'triangle'. There were many colours and paintschemes available. Going custom was also possible.

Not that I am aware of, Eef.

There aren't many Dutch origin options: Champion Mondial ATB, Rafty, Radical Birdcage.... and that is about it I am afraid. Koga is Dutch, but they sourced their frames from Miyata in Japan.
