I know what a fanny is.

im loving that big time lololololol
but as he is american i think over there it means bottom ????
[emphasis added]

Oh, I see. I can't imagine how I didn't understand your comment.

Sorry Bushpig but I think you also missed the sarcasm in Gaz's reply.

Max, in Scotland calling someone a fanny is more like calling someone an ass as opposed to a cant so the translation isn't relevant here, but I understood what the lol's referred to.

Let's end this tit for tit and get back to watching the vote close.

Already voted, quite closed ;)
Am I the only one surprised of the few votes of Archangels Adroit? It´s a great build, maybe not the month for it; the best race replica BOTM might have been better for it...

Agreed, quite shocking, it's one of the best bikes of the contest.

For those "suspicious minds":

A vote from a Newbie is worthless?

There are a lot of "watchers" in this forum. There're classic bike lovers who can't speak or write english properly, so they don't post.

But they can vote.

or can't they?

P.d. Dear GM, we've a great Spanish sentence for what you did: To through a stone and hide your hand. You SHOULD explain yourself.

Good point, and their votes should be counted, no doubt.

Regarding GM (Kevin), I'm familiar with the idiom in Spanish:
"Tirar la piedra y esconder la mano"
In English:
“never throw a stone and hide your hand.” ---Basically, take responsibility for your actions and stand behind what you say and do.
I'm all for explaining oneself, and especially after an arguably controversial statement.

on another note, if I read one more person write that this is suppose to be "for fun", I'm going to hit myself upside the head with my wireless ergonomic keyboard. We all understand it is for fun, and like a weekend bike race amongst amateurs, it can get heated, and bragging rights and so on. So yes, good fun, but let's not act like it doesn't mean a thing while it is taking place. If we don't get into this thing we do with old mountain bikes, then why even be here. Strikes me as a bit disingenuous. The same with the guys that claim, "they're just bikes". If one is to not be so literal, it's a bit more than that, no?

Rob

So in turn we should assume that all British folk cannot spell therefore are dumb.

Personally, I feel that if the objection is only been raised a day from the end, after near enough a week of voting, it's a little late in the day to be raising it - after all, it hasn't stopped people voting for it up to now.
I thought it was raised 5 days ago -- less than 24 hours after the poll opened.

That looks passing comment by somebody listing what they like / would vote for, as opposed to somebody saying:-

"It hasn't got pedals on, therefore it shouldn't be in the vote..."

Was there any notable objection until the vote has become so close?

:) good spot Uno :)

Golden - fair point about the fun statement, but I was just refering to the viewing the votes first and the implications of that compared to the "real world"

Neil - I read that as "it doesn't have pedals so I didn't vote for it" - a choice we all had and some obviously felt it wasn't an issue - which it isn't. A lot of people store their bikes without pedals to reduce the risk of damage and many are sold without them as they are such a personal choice.
