Serial number of Taiwanese made frames (not just Kona) usually have a letter indicating the manufacturer. Not that there is anything wrong with having a Taiwanese built frame, many of the big name brands had frames built by them. These days even Jeff Jones has his Ti space frames built in Taiwan.

I know it, ever Cannondale built his frames in taiwan now, are there any Frame built in USA really, right now?

PD: My Explosif S/N is F5040862, does it means it's from Taiwan?

'F' tells me Fairly Bike Manufacturing Co in Taiwan. The also made frames for Marin, Parkpre and many more companies.

Might scrape in in terms of it's year, but I'm not really feeling the retro vibe, there...

1993 Adroit

This is my 'most American' bike, custom made and custom painted in Chesalis Washington in 1992. 1 of ~30 made.
Actually all my vintage bikes have their frames made in the USA but this one has the most US-made parts in it. Decked with Grafton & Ringlé it's pretty cool, not forgetting it's rolling on authentic Tinker's wheels!
