BoTM Ideas Themes or Suggestions

Given the above view..... (Not a criticism by the way)

A separate concourse type competition perhaps? (CBOTM)

And another for bikes of any condition and spec, the owner/builder supporting it with stories of love and derring do should they wish? This would be the occasionally themed competition.

Every other month is a concourse style botm where all the top to bottom end fight it out.

The specials, to me, are a bit of fun to break it up and it gives the proper 'all in anything goes' competition entries a month to get their build done, dusted, pedals fitted, build thread written and photos taken somewhere other than hung up in a shed or infront of a multicoloured fireplace.

Perhaps we could have a legless special, hung up in me shed special, can't see the bike for all the other crap around it special etc.

But it is all just for a bit of fun as the only prizes now are pride and as bit of advertisement if your linked to something or planning on selling.

If I had my way all pictures would need clean line correct length cables, matching dust caps and be taken in a plain/complimentary outdoor shot.

I would like more of the 3 way shootout or even specific manufacturers.
GT special
Klien special
Orange special
Sort of thing

I suspect that those suggesting the ₤700 Special month have in their mind low-to-mid end 90's bikes? I see that and think early 80's. With the US$/UK₤ exchange rate at that time (>2:1), many of the ultra-rare handmade US bikes of that era would qualify.

Seriously, I continue to think there should probably be only 2-3 "special" months a year. Ideas:
- Patina Special (the rougher the better)
- Gates at Gates (or any other tall bike thing)... selfish interest
- Mountain Tandems
- Trials Bikes

Flat Tire of the month? Only bikes with flats can enter, winner is the one with the flatest tire.

Dirty Bikes? Dirtiest bike wins, bonus points for dog crap in the tires.

Most dangerous bike of the month? Bikes with components that are know to break, poorly set up brakes, frayed tire sidewalls, etc.
