BoTM Ideas Themes or Suggestions

High Ten special, the bikes many of us started with, low end bikes, that ones that still make us smile despite their awfulness.

After the awesome epic fail of the last BoTM special I chose lets have a couple of solid suggestions from the thread :D

Let's have a special edition, special edition - bike must have some special / limited edition in it's name or model - not implied, but actually explicit in it's name / model.

To be semi-serious for a second, though - I've always liked the idea of the bike owned from new - and not sold, and bought back, but owned since new for a long, uninteruppted time.

Both good ideas Neil. Anymore for anymore? What do we think about an Easter Special?

Shima-NO! (Did we do that already?).

Small custom builder (What can I say, I just got a Davidson for the wife and probably only ten of you have ever even heard of them before).

Adventurers. (braze on special. Bonus points for racks, lights, shoulder straps and excessive bottle carriers). Preferrably with an action shot including a sleeping bag and panniers.

NEON! (I got nuthin).

Pre Indexing (My favorite bikes).

I like that idea - shown prepped ready to go, and a shot of out in the wilds all kitted up.

And a mandatory link to a write up about it!

Considering the candidates for BOTY 2013.

How about a full suspension special? Don't have one myself, but I do notice a definite trend in last years BOTM winners.

Do like the Adventurers special idea too though (Even if I have broken my trekker down now. )

Whilst I know a lot of people have opinions on this, I'd still like to see a £700 max BOTM. That is a bike that would have cost less than £700 when new, not today. A showcase for the midrange, if you will.

I do love our superbikes, but I think there's a reluctance for people to enter lower-end bikes because they'll never beat a merlin or a fat, meaning that they simply never get seen at all - a great shame, as for a LOT of us, it's all about nostalgia, plus BOTM is always full of 'Man, I had a bear valley just like that!' or 'I had that exact Cindercone in 1990!'.

My 2p.

Also, +1 for a full sus special.
