Boot sale find benotto 2500: gravelly buildy thingy

J'Sus. £300? My guy charges me mate's rates but last I heard his full price was around £70 for a bike frame. Depends on the colour though - if you want one of his standard colours £70, less if you're happy to wait until he has a batch of other stuff in the same colour - more if you want something out of the ordinary or a quick turnaround. That includes chrome masking and plugging of anything threaded.

I wanted a deep pink candy metallic gloss so it was quite an intricate paint job and I also wanted to ask if he'd chrome the lugs but after he gave me that quote I just looked away.

as said I'm in conversation with a powdercoating business in Essex and they say they can do paint, chrome, and they'll even apply the decals and add a top gloss layer so they are protected.

Right, I’ve got a quote from a powdercoater down the road.

@chickendrumsticks you said you got the full powder coat for £50 right?

Well my powder coat would cost £200. Yes, some powdercoats are that much. But he says that the frame is too big to sandblast so I’d have to do it myself! And I’d have to pay for the powder coat paint. And it doesn’t even include VAT!😂 so I’m potentially paying upwards of £300 for a powder coat whilst my guy just sprays on some paint.

But a another company has come to me in Essex that Specialises in vintage frames.
That's in line with quotes I've had for a non-standard colour that they have to order in. And 'sparkly blue' is definitely non-standard. It's less if it's a colour they already have in stock. Too big to blast though... 🤨

Yeah he said it would be no trouble to order the colour in but he says it would cost the same if it was just a solid colour. Remember £200 is just for his labour, nothing else. I have to sandblast, pay for paint and it’s plus VAR

right, got another quote for a powder coat from a guy who specialises in vintage frames called maldon. he quoted me £140+vat for this colour

I think the pink with the blue decals and the shiny campy chorus that's going to be built on it will look awesome. it is not a solid colour so it will cost more but it looks pretty cool?
