Bontrager OR Early 90’s

Here was my reference point for the cabling back then. Would you be able to scan the image from the Bonty manual please? Cheers
But after years of telling people the cabling is wrong, now I actually look at pictures in the brochures it's the way you have it!!

Slackboy thanks for sharing that. It seems a little odd to run the gear cable back on itself! But hey Dr Bontrager knows his stuff 👍

Although it doesn't really matter which way you do it, doing it the way suggested in the manual does keep the cables nicely away from the head tube preventing rub. It obviously makes no difference function wise and it possibly looks a bit neater round the seat cluster the other way?

A couple more changes on this. Will update with pics soon. Out of the 80’s - 90’s bikes I own this for some reason floats my boat! I think it goes back to being a young lad and seeing one of these at Mike Cookson Cycles in Whitefield. There was an array of US made bike porn in that shop! Yeti’s, Salsa, Bontrager etc.
I bought a Yeti FRO and it took years for me to finally get my hands on this.

Mike Cookson Cycles in Whitefield.

I lived virtually opposite Cooksons when I moved to Manchester in '98. They had an olive green privateer on display that I really, really wanted but couldn't have as I was saving for a house deposit.
It was remembering that frame that triggered by current bonty obsession.

I still pop in occasionally but it's no where near as inspiring now it's virtually all Trek.

I bought a LINN Hifi from Mike Cookson himself recently, only realised it was him when I spotted a Marin Team Titanium frame in his garage and when I mentioned it he said that he used to have a bike shop! Nice chap.
