Maybe a change in tube spec after the first production run? Who knows? The Santa Cruz bikes throw up unexpected quirks, seems the Wisconsin ones aren't immune to this either.

'99 privateers ( the ones with 1 1/8 headtubes) were 27.0, earlier ones should be 26 8 like the race and racelite

"'99" Privateers were left over '98's not a production Year. All Privateers were spec'd w/ 27.0 seatposts in mind .

I rode a few hundred yards today, feels really nice, a keeper I think.
Time to break it down and pack it up, the Privateer is coming with me across the world in a few days (hopefully)
