It sounds like a '99. From what I remember that's when Orange started fitting Manitou forks to most of their bikes. (Certainly the top end bikes). In '98 they were still fitting Rockshox I think.
The frame number tells you the year of manufacture though. First three numbers give year and month, so for instance 905 would be May 1999.

Easy way to tell if it's a '99 frame is it will have a disk mount if it's a P7
