Bizarrely stuck seatpost

I've just had some lucky success with a stuck seatpost. A few months ago I tried plus gas and freeze spray but couldn't shift the post. I thought I was having some success moving it but spotted that only the top part of the seat post was turning.... damn those two piece seatposts. I was resigned to the caustic soda method but thought the other day I would just give it one more go. So, armed with a large set of stilsons and a 3ft steel tube (jack handle) I laid the bike down on some grass, stood on it and used some brute force. To start with the post was flaking with the stilsons losing grip but then the post started to buckle, the stilsons gripped more tightly and it came free with an almightly great crack. Maybe months of soaking in plus gas did just enough for the bond to break.
