Bitter Sweet

Sweet, I've won a £250 ASOS gift card.

Bitter, cos I'm not a skinny, skeletal and chestless 20 year old.

Oh well, I'll give it to my 16 YO daughter.

Congratulations, your daughter won't get any bitter after-taste from that one :D

I've only ever won one thing, aged 11 on a school holiday fancy dress party, I was dresses in bread bags and called Mothers Pride, I'm still having therapy for it

I actually bought a top from ASOS online but it didn't fit :D only bought it because I found a website with voucher codes, though. I know nobody cares about ASOS vouchers BUT the page also has codes for Halfords, so I was thinking to get some much needed parts for my new old bike using the discount from that site http://www.voucherbox.co.uk/
The question is though, whether new parts will fit an old bike? My brother told me about these new bike tires that are basically indestructable, or at least can't go flat, so I was wondering if those would fit a nineties bike... I can imagine that this might sound like a total newbie question but then again, I am new so I gots to ask ;)

You can still get parts to fit 90s bikes, most haven't changed. Although there is a lot more variety now especially with bottom brackets, headsets, drive train, er, basically everything really, so if you're not sure just ask.

With regard to tyres, you can get very puncture resistant tyres, but they tend to be heavy, whereas light tyres feel nice to ride, but are generally more prone to puncturing. There's also a wide variety of tread patterns, fat knobbly tyres are great for wet mud, but hard work on the road and hard packed dry trails, whereas slicks are only really any good on the road, but roll fast and you can get semi slick MTB tyres, which I like because my usual routes involve a fair bit of road.

On my bikes at the moment I have:

Schwalbe Marathon Plus 26x1.75": http://www.wiggle.co.uk/schwalbe-marath ... Tyre-Black - Very puncture proof, I've never had one in about 1,000 miles, but at nearly a kilo per tyre, they are very heavy and only really a road tyre.

Schwalbe Hurricane 26x1.95": http://www.evanscycles.com/products/sch ... gn=froogle, not as puncture proof as the Marathons, but I don't get many and they're pretty fast on road and hard, dry trails.

Schwalbe Sammy Slicks 26x2.1": http://www.wiggle.co.uk/schwalbe-sammy- ... Tyre-Black light and fast on road and dry trails, but I haven't had them long enough to comment on their puncture proofness, only about 30 miles, no punctures so far. I bought these to replace a set of Panaracer Mach SS, in which I reckon, on average, I got at least one puncture every 10 miles, got 3 in 15 miles last week - useless, I will never buy Panaracer tyres again.

And yes, I do like Schwalbe tyres. :D

If I try to get on the ASOS website I get an error message

'You are not authorised to access this site. You are too old. Sod off.'

Hopefully she doesn't read this site! I'm sure plenty of their stuff would fit me just fine (despite not being skinny, skeletal or chestless) but having just checked their website I've been put off by the fact that their male models all

1) Look like the thickest dunces available
2) Have an obligatory tattoo.

Don't think I'm part of their target demographic either...

Wouldnt you prefer a menacing looking leather jacket, Chop ? They do them and im sure there would be enough left over to buy the kid/s something
