BIN prices on Ebay

I've recently started looking at prices of Retro rigid mountain bikes on Ebay.
There seems to be a considerable difference between BIN prices and prices actually achieved.
Reasonable bikes often seem to sell for under £100 and some don't sell at all.

Ebay has been funny recently.Stuff which would have been snapped up is either not selling or going for a stupid opening bid.I personally have gone over to fixed non auction BIN prices to avoid losing too much money. My experience is that if you stick to a reasonable BIN someone will eventually bite even if you have to re-list.

Some people are still un-realistic.There is an Orange Clockwork on Ebay at the moment which has dropped in stages from £250 to £150,which is probably getting closer to where it should have been all along.

I'm also surprised by the number of potential sellers on Fleabay and elsewhere who put a bike up for sale without stating the frame size. Sometimes when the size of frame is stated it's obviously wrong because the bike wasn't produced in that size.

That's the worst photoshop I've ever seen as well.

Obviously with such a low price, proper studio photos were way above the budget.

I believe that some bikes may be worth silly money (I'd quite fancy an original Breezer) but...

Links included in case you're tempted.

£15k for tiny wheels and some elastomers.

And the pièce de résistance, £10k for a couple of planks, no brakes and some £2.99 pedals.

The prices are bad enough, but, particularly on the Facebook groups there is a tendency to stick a blurry pic, no description of any kind, and one word: Offers. This is bad enough, but then there are my least favourite : the barely literate ramblings of some half wit who thinks that having a few key words just about discernable from the overall alphabetical mess that they have spunked all over the screen with help from "Not ever going to school" "Iphone predictive text that doesn't know about bikes" and that timeless great "I can't be arsed : people will know what I am on about" Well, it takes me about four times as long to work out what they are blethering about. They hardly ever tell you the size of the flinkin' thing and get all arsey when you want clarification of what "Bik 4sle no swops cerrerer wif hidrolics n st. " means. I mean yes I CAN work it out but why should I have to spend so much longer trying to do so when they simply can't be bothered to communicate? ( I am not including dyslexics, although I have to say that I know two dyslexics who spend much longer on their typing so that they are understood properly - I am aware not everyone can do that )
