Bike Rationalisation - 2 Become 1 ?

Hi Gents,

would love to pick your brains on my bike storage dilemma ...

Currently I have a road bike ( no mudguards, no lights, thin wheels, drop bars ) that I use for "fitness" i.e clocking up miles in the daytime. I also have a much heavier commuter bike thing that I'm sat upright on : flat bars , mudguards, dynamo, 35mm tyres, pannier rack. I use this in the urban environment , if I need to carry anything, in the dark and on weekends away.

One lives in my home office , one is upright against the wall on a landing ( I don't have outside space)

Is there any way I could replace both of these beauties with one bike ?

An adventure/touring bike maybe?

something like that : detachable panniers , two sets of wheels with and without hub dynamo , will just have to bear the extra weight of the mudguards when I'm going for my Strava PRs :D

You'll want the mudguards in the winter anyway - unless you are one who takes the view that a streak of crud up your back is a better look than mudguards.

No need for the mudguards then!

It seems some kind of Adventure/Gravel/Touring bike could fill the void left by the 2 bikes.
The choices are vast though, budget, preferred frame material etc might narrow things down a bit.

Re:

This would do it

Light and fast enough for road work

But different tyres and guards and can be used for winter and wet.

I like steel frames. I don't like the geometry of the new bikes. Plus I'm a big unit so carbon is not for me and alloy is ugly.

any notable steel touring frame manufacturers I could scour eBay for ? I can't get excited about about a Dawes Galaxy but maybe I've reached that point in my life :D

that looks great : I love the brushed steel finish ...is it new ?

Re:

Yes it’s new (was in May )

It’s brushed Ti which has lasted well over the miles

Has multiple mounts and can be ordered with more if needed.
