Re:

Wow has there ever been a more "draw it out/attention getting" string of posts to pump up a bike for BOTM???

@TPC, I think what people are trying to tell you is that your entries have been nice. But Nick lets face it retrobike collecting has for the most part been a thing for the "small guy", that old cyclist, past shop hand/racer, many who are old enough to have ridden and raced in "the era". You on the other hand have a "corporate staff" of hunters and "wheel dealers" at you disposal. You see its a staff against the single guy with a job and a family. While you apologetically enter your bikes monthly it's to no ones surprise here that you never win. You could have the best bike and may have in the past. It's David against Goliath as many members here see it....so go on killing yourself with great builds if that's truly your passion and your main reason for doing it is not your corporate bottom line and drawing attention to profit from it. Lets face it, where else can you get such a captive global audience and potential clientele for the cost of your time on a keyboard? BOTM is not what it once was and your entries are a reason for that whether you believe that or not. While the statements been made that it's "about the bike"... that's not all true. So you can leave it in or take it out and play it later....it's like that classical custom cassette tape of golden oldies. For you all that really matters is that TPC is "out there" and you pockets full and unfortunately the vehicle you use to do that is old bikes whether you really enjoy them or not.

Monty Python, Benny Hill, and the silly butthurt comments in RBUK BOTM. British humor cracks me up and certainly has a unique quality all it's own. Thanks for the chuckles.

Re:

For what it is worth..

I reckon the contribution of TPC elevate the site.

When I was a youth I used to race cars, motorbikes, yachts and whatever else I could get hold of. Nothing special, but one or two of the people doing the same had seemingly limitless funds, coming from a motor company family or such. Their enthusiasm and love for the activity was no less than anyone else's, despite it being their 'business'.

The posts in this thread have yet again revealed the taking the ball home attitude that no one really should still have by age twelve, never mind the advanced years of a lot of these members.

For goodness sake, there are kids starving in this world!

I like the red tires on the build. In 1983 tire options are still very limited and those available included some unique colors. I just got a set of yellow snake bellies for an early project from a fellow RBUKer and am stoked he sent them my way, and excited to us them.

your welcome, TPCs last post was the best "Jackinory" I have ever read. Who needs British humour or British soap opera when we have quality like that.

Re:

To me all the design ques for the chance look like they are taken from a BMX and oversized and mixed with some old touring bike. The stlye if bmx where much like that. Still I means nothing and does nothing for me.

Which is great, it does not mean it is crap or other should not like it if it means or pulls strings for them I just think it is wrong.
This is BoTM and we're supposed to be able to critique the bikes.

Each to their own.

I also personally have nothing again bike shops putting bikes in, some are nice some are not.
But I can still comment on them, be it positive or negative, as I do my own personal bikes. That is part of the contest.

I don't believe we should be talking about if people can or cannot enter bikes because they are a shop, have lots of money, have no money or found it in a skip.
That is not chat about the bikes or the contest theme.
Anyways
