Sounds fair to me, I have nothing to enter, in any case if I did have, it wouldn't get close to winning!

1998-2008 26ers would be nice.
So many 26er full-sus DH bikes from that era were really cool looking.

We can redifine a new era for semi retro bikes and for modern. Retro was until 1997, perhaps adding 10 years more until 2007 or 2008 could work. 26" gold era
And modern era from 2008 ... with all the 26, 27.5, 29 and 36 wheel sizes. The crazy era of sell anything to anyone ...

Why 15 years old? Anything from the dawn of time can enter pre 98. So anything built since 98 should be able to enter post 98. We’ve had 1930s bikes win the road section. The retro bit is what it is. The rest are the rest.

I suppose you're right.. BotM 1998+ should be just that, BotM 1998+

You can restrict entries to cutoffs or types/wheel sizes in special months just as is done now. Normal months should be for all. Bikes will be judged on their merits.

As long as your entry is something you have actually built yourself. I presume that's one of the requirements as you are asked to provide a link to the build thread.

Again, a grey area. We’ve had complete bikes from collections acquired and entered, commercial ventures have their ‘team’ build bikes and NOS bikes discovered etc. So defining ‘built’ would be difficult. Owned has been more appropriate for some. I appreciate the spirit of the ‘build’ though.

Ah,ok interesting. So you could buy a complete bike that is the shiznit, enter it in Botm and win. Get a little badge recognising the achievement. It would appear that the winner has created this great work of art and is a worthy winner. When in reality the bike is still great, just that the owner didn't do anything except buy it and enter it. That sort of takes away some of the prestige if that happened like this.
