Bike ninja

Just wondering how bike ninja can profit out of using companies logos without infringing copyright. Surely it cant be right that someone can make money off the back of another companies success?

Either the company owners get involved and the prices double, or we will see a influx of Chinese companies all making fake bicycle brand goods and driving the prices down.

Why? Are you that bored?

Go build or ride a bike.... it’s more fulfilling I promise you....

Its a fair point though,

i have bought several bits and pieces, and all of it is good quality, the Owners of each copyright, might argue that it isnt up to there standards though, much in the same way as buying any fake goods, Levi, Nike, Addidas, Rolex, etc etc etc.

This fella seems quite sharp though, each copyright has been tweaked just enough, so he might not have to worry about it.

I guess only the copyright owners will know.

Yes when you take a closer look he has altered the logos enough for it not to be a problem. I really like his stuff and he has some great ideas/designs. Love the beer mats and the disc drive clock!

Re:

Not all of it is altered though, ive got some good bits, coasters etc.

Re:

I know for a fact that the ones they do are pretty much all on licence from the companies themselves, some have said they don't want their logos being used directly, but with modifications they don't mind.

Bike Ninja do spend a lot of time behind the scenes sorting out proofs to be sent to and from various companies so that both parties are happy with what is being done.

Just because you've seen a logo that's similar, and seems just different enough to not infringe copyright, doesn't mean that it isn't still authorised by the relevant parties.

Take the calendar they did, every single logo in there is with the owners direct permission, even the big 'S' allowed theirs to be used and that shocked me given their past history on sueing people with similar names/brands/logos and such!

If thats the case the it answers the OPs question.

He did well with"gerneralised" perhaps they had enough bad publicity from taking everyone to court, that poor bike shop owner who sent it viral on social media, won the day and made the company look like a pack of dogs.

Hi All
I'll be the first to admit that there have been a few that were borderline, most of those have already been shelved and I'm constantly working on bringing in more and more covering the brands that are currently not represented. Its been the biggest challenge since I started to get companies to put faith in a complete unknown to allow me to represent their brand and I've been really chuffed that so many have placed their trust in me.

https://www.bike-ninja.co.uk/brands/
All of the brands that are listed on this page are all official and for every sale the owner of the brand gets a license fee per item sold. In some cases the brand wasn't bothered so a charitable donation is made. However all have given full permission.

Fingers crossed as things build I'll be able to add more brands as I go. There are so many ranges that I have that will possibly not even see the light of day and thats simply as I won't do it without the companies full backing. There are a few exceptions with some branding where companies no longer exist but even then I will try and contact someone that was part of it or seek additional advice where possible.

If anyone feels they have any issue with any design though please drop me a line. I'm not a big company like some people seem to think, its just me doing every aspect of the work from design to production. Likewise if there is any area you would like to see then let me know as I'll always try.

Just to add that the license agreements that are in place between myself and the brands specifically list the products that are allowed. Thats something that I have added to ensure the protection of the brand and that the arrangement isn't abused.

Thanks Tim

Thetes already a plethora of fake Chinese branded Mtb parts for sale, the prices haven't been driven down because the quality isn't there.

Tbf that wasnt the point i was making, fake goods sell for less than the original, if it didnt what would be the point, and the more that can get away with it, the cheaper an item will become.

Fake Bicycle parts....?
Bicycle parts, labelled as Shimano Sram etc....?

Where, Ive seen fake Pinarello, but not fake shimano etc

Re: Re:
