Big booboo (Fox Talas problem)

Hey yal,

made the mistake of offering to have a look at a friends forks as they’re not performing, also made the mistake in thinking that FOX FORX have the same ease of service as MARZOCCHI forks…

I realised that I was out of my league although had already taken off the foot nuts, and can’t get the one to go on as the push rod is down in there deep.

Anyone worked on a FOX 32 talas (2005) before?

Kind regards,

J

Let the air out and compress the forks, the threaded rod will find its way out.

Fox forx are not too bad to work on, aside from the talas ones which I understand are much more complicated. I did have some but drew a line at servicing the talas unit. The rest is pretty standard seals, o-rings, fluid and lubrication.

Hey, thanks for your message, yeah these are the talas mothers, they don’t have a air cap on the one side it’s sealed on the talas side, I’ve bitten the bullet, just paying to get the friend a new fork, lessons learned I guess… research research, research!

I'd still let the air out and compress, it may not be the air side that has the issue, but both sides will compress and hopefully bobs your mother's brother.

doesn’t seem to have a air cap either side unfortunately, the tops don’t seem to come off either :( I’ve removed grub screws and they don’t budge :S

If it makes you feel better OP I sent my Talas back several times to Fox Iberia, on the 4th visit they gave up and rebuilt my fork with completely new internal parts for the cost of a repair. Super customer service.
