Best way to store bikes

Yo all! Strange post and I I’m waiting for the “in shed” or “in garage” you’ll get extra points… haha 😂

What I’m actually looking for is like is an attic a decent place or will fluctuation of temps cause strain on parts expanding and contracting we’re going down a rabbit hole similar to art storage here so buckle up

Take the wheels off and pop it in a large chest freezer if you have space, that's where I keep mine between bodies 😉

Sorry I don't actually have a real answer, although I can't imagine the attic doing any harm unless it's an Al Mega, in which case it will almost certainly explode within a week.

Temperature fluctuation might speed the ageing of rubber and plastic components, but overall it should be ok.
Over the decades I have bought 1000s of used bikes, many of which have been unused for years.
I recently bought a dozen that had been in a man's dad's loft for over 10 years.
They were pretty good.
I think we can safely say
DAMP is the KILLER

Thanks for all the reply’s, good to read your answers and stories made me chuckle!

The post started when I was looking at the exploding kooka cranks and hope hubs of ye day 😂

Cheers all!

I'd avoid any long term storage in a shed, cellar or garage as theres too much moisture in the air, which is going to promote rusting.
The bike, steel framed, can rust from the inside out.

So maybe dismantle, box up those bits and it will make storing the frame/whe4els a lot easier
